About EEIST Project

The EEIST Project is a University of Exeter led project which develops complexity-based modelling solutions to support government low-carbon innovation decision making. EEIST is a 3-year Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and CIFF funded programme which brings together world-leading expertise in complex systems modelling, economics and climate and environmental policy. Experts work closely with policy decision-makers in China, Brazil, India, the UK and EU to apply innovative systems modelling approaches to live policy decisions, through Communities of Practice. The project has contributed to the UK Green Book and Net Zero reviews, evidencing the benefits of moving beyond cost benefit analysis when making policy decisions in situations of transformational change. This ambitious and innovative programme seeks to support governments in their missions to respond to the catastrophic impacts of climate change and inform transformative policy solutions.
