EEM Environmental & Social Impact Ltd. is an independent consultancy established in Montreal that aims to help its clients to assess and manage their environmental and social (E&S) impacts and improve performance.
We specialize in ensuring our clients meet the E&S requirements of their projects, whether they are self-imposed or externally driven (by legal and permitting, financial or other stakeholder considerations) in Africa, Latin America, across Canada and the U.S. Our collective experience spans a range of industrial sectors with particular emphasis on mining, energy and transportation.
We have helped clients meet the most stringent international standards for project risk assessment, work force and community health and safety, resource use, involuntary resettlement, biodiversity conservation and cultural heritage protection. We have worked with indigenous peoples’ organizations for more than 25 years.
EEM Impact brings the best minds to bear on each project on an as-needed basis under the supervision of in-house senior ESIA practitioners with extensive experience with industrial projects and financial institution standards such as those of the UN, WB/IFC/OPIC.
We manage projects to enable clients to integrate E&S aspects easily and stay ahead of constraints and obstacles. Our interests are primarily those of our clients and we aim to build client capacity to manage E&S with autonomy. We work with local partners to keep a cap on costs, ensure local content and optimize logistics.
Our services include:
- Establishment of baselines and impact assessments in the physical, biological, social and economic domains;
- Development of E&S management systems and plans for stakeholder engagement, worker and community health and safety, environmental monitoring, water management, air quality and noise, biodiversity conservation, cultural heritage, influx management and community development.
- Perform compliance audits and due diligence assessments in partnership with our sister firm, EEM EHS Management Inc.
