About EfferVnteers India

As a voluntary welfare project, 'EfferVnteers', a free online platform aims to promote mental health awareness, especially among drug addicts, provide mental health resources, and also fund advocacy efforts regarding mental health among marginalized communities. It leads to non-pathological distress and mental health problems in minority communities and has a devastating effect on their mental health. In addition, it worsens pre-existing problems, such as alcohol abuse, domestic violence, health problems, humanitarian aid-related problems, and anxiety due to financial problems, economic disparities, political subjugation, family separation, etc. Violence towards women and girls, especially those from minority communities, may also increase as a result. Yet, today in India, there is scant to no representation of people from these downtrodden communities at any level – media, cinema, or government. This is to say, there are no affirmative policies toward communities marginalized by caste and other socio-political intersections, and of people from those communities in positions of leadership. Consequently, individuals' well-being suffers. Despite enough light being shed on these shortcomings, there are only a few organizations in India that help these communities. In addition to socio-economic disparities, inaccessibility to mental healthcare facilities led to the formation of this group. We as a voluntary group connect people from marginalized communities with affordable and accessible mental health services, and awareness through an online portal. Our team is a collection of like-minded life science students currently pursuing their Bachelor’s degree. As a student-run project, we work closely with organizations like NGOs and clinics as well. In order to promote community mental health, 'EfferVnteers' seeks humanitarian aid; in turn, the funds are remitted to non-profit organizations. As a means to alleviate the difficulties faced by the subjugated communities.
