EffiSciences is an association created in January 2022 by students of Ecoles Normales Supérieures, and which now gathers students and PhD students to promote mission-driven research to tackle the most urgent societal problems 🦠🌎🤖🦤⚖️🐖
We observe that science has a crucial role to play, but that we are still not doing nearly enough. It is of course difficult to find the most beneficial research paths, but a number of tools already exist to provide guidance (from Unleashing Science's vision to the Effective Altruism movement's methodologies). EffiSciences' mission is to make them available to those who share our desire for involvement, and to promote this approach in the academic field.
We believe that at our scale, no other approach would have such a great potential to positively shape the future of French research, and to contribute to reducing some of the greatest threats we are facing.
Since our creation, in only 6 months, we have multiplied our projects: communication in the media (notably a tribune in Le Monde signed by 150 students from the 4 ENS), seminars and conferences, map of priority research axes, reading groups, incubation of mission-driven research projects, connections with public policies.
