The latest jewel in the Tule River Indian Reservation’s economic crown has opened its doors, bringing a new level of convenience to those driving between the mountain areas and the Valley through Springville. Eagle Feather Trading Post is located at 31071 Highway 190. The Oct. 26 opening celebration included a traditional blessing and festivities that features live music. Eagle Feather Trading Post 1 is a full-service convenience store and travel center with 20 fueling stations, a convenience store, a propane fill station, RV dump and full-service Subway Sandwich Sandwiches restaurant. (*Now replace with, Stoney Creek Barbeque restaurant, EST. 2019) “This is just another piece of the economic engine for not only the Tule River Tribe, but Porterville and Springville as well,” Tribal Administrator Rodney Martin said. Martin said the Tule River Tribal Council is committed to bringing sustainable economic development that benefits both the tribe and the surrounding community. “We intend to set the standard for what convenience-store service should be,” Martin said. “With a staff of 20, the store is large, well stocked with wide aisles so that the customer doesn’t feel boxed in." The Subway Sandwiches restaurant is owned and operated by Avtar Singh Basra, the local Subway franchisee.
