Egan Airships

Egan Airships is a Seattle-based aerospace start-up with a mission to improve the lives of billions through its patented invention, “PLIMP” the plane-blimp hybrid aircraft. These new flyers merge benefits of a helicopter, blimp and plane to provide vertical take off and landing (VTOL) and forward speeds over 50mph with at least an hour of flight time. Major benefits include an unpowered descent speed of only 9.5mph should engines fail, and smooth flight and acceleration for nearly stable platform filming. Further, with a length of 28 feet (still under 55lbs), PLIMPcraft are highly visible for miles such that line-of-sight rules can be adhered to for much greater distances than conventional drones, and these vehicles may easily integrate into the general aviation airspace.
