EKAÏ arose from the desire to use a leather that could be as resistant as bovine leather, as aesthetic as exotic leather, additionally to the motive of creating a brand with a notative spirit that could have a meaningful impact on the environment.
Created in 2020 in Paris by two women, Margot Houdoux and Diane Mathé-Dumaine, EKAÏ is challenging traditional luxury practices with a first collection of small leather goods developed from recycled fish leather, and skins coming from the food industry.
EKAÏ advocates for better consumption practices; sustainable and responsible, with products though, designed, developed and assembled in Paris thus limiting carbon footprint. Natural tanning of the skins, a short production process, and commitment for oceans’ protection and better fishing methods are as well core values for the brand.
