You're surrounded by supporters, coaches, trainers, and experts in a highly structured environment. Your career is all-encompassing; it consumes your focus and energy. Your tribe and network are composed almost entirely of people within sports. What happens when all of that goes away? Because it will. Your career lasts, on average, ~5 years, maybe 10; if it's really good, 15-20 years. Then, you retire, get hurt, or cut—what now? Your skills aren’t obviously transferable to other careers (on paper). What do you do next when you suddenly lose your Identity, Income, Purpose, Support, Structure, and Tribe? What will you do for the next 40 years of your life to find health, wealth, meaning, and happiness? Often, this drastic transition results in some combination of: Identity crisis, lost, stuck, unfulfillment, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, fear, unhappiness. At EliteShift, we provide custom coaching to prepare athletes for this transition. Additionally, we arrange custom internships for athletes during off-seasons to gain exposure to different industries and businesses (this is inspired by Larry Fitzgerald's story).
