It comprises a membership of 60.000 students and recent graduates with the purpose to contribute to legal education, to foster mutual understanding and to promote social responsibility of law students and young lawyers. ELSA operates primarily through its local groups, which are located at nearly 435 universities throughout 43 countries in Europe. The official vision of ELSA is "A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity".
