The Emissions First Partnership (EFP) was created by companies actively working to meaningfully address emissions through impactful clean energy purchases. Having collectively signed almost 25% of all voluntary corporate purchase commitments since 2008, EFP recognizes that the way in which organizations account for carbon emissions from electricity use should encourage actions that maximize carbon reductions. The term “Emissions First” is a recognition that the way in which organizations account for Scope 2 carbon emissions from electricity use should incentivize actions to evolve from the current energy matching approach towards an emissions matching strategy.
