Emmaus Greenwich: More Than Just a Place to Stay Located in Plumstead and opened in 1994 by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Emmaus Greenwich provides a supportive community for those who have experienced homelessness. Currently, we offer a home to 35 Companions, who work in our main superstore on the Plumstead site, as well as in our two additional shops in Lewisham and Poplar. At Emmaus Greenwich, we believe in offering more than just a bed for the night. We provide a stable environment and meaningful work within our social enterprise, where Companions can stay for as long as they need. By engaging in productive work and learning new skills, Companions rebuild their self-esteem and regain the confidence to move forward in life. Our social enterprise generates revenue that supports the community, covering the costs of housing, food, and other essentials for our Companions, along with a weekly allowance. This approach not only restores a sense of self-worth but also highlights how their contributions positively impact both their lives and the wider community. Emmaus Greenwich is a place where individuals can rebuild their lives and rediscover their potential.
