EmpowerBlind is a community-led initiative breaking barriers through digital inclusion. We empower blind and visually impaired youth by giving them access to technology, skills, and opportunity—working towards SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
At EmpowerBlind, we believe that technology is the key to unlocking limitless potential. Our mission is to empower visually impaired individuals by providing cutting-edge digital skills training, ensuring they can fully participate in today’s knowledge-driven world.
Our aim is to....
- Eradicate stereotypes about blind people and the use of ICTs in Cameroon
- Inspire a passion for ICTs among them and a desire to explore the field in depth
- Facilitate and boost the autonomy of blind and visually impaired youth through ICT-related careers
We have 04 programs:
TRAINING FOR CHANGE:
Work sessions, interactive courses and practical exercises, and a final training project.
EMPOWERFIVE:
Sponsorship of five students in a school each year based on their academic performance.
IWTI (INCLUSIVE WORK & TRAINING SPACES INITIATIVE):
Awareness program on the issue of inclusion in our societies, workplaces, and schools.
VISION AID PROGRAM:
Free medical assistance and ophthalmology consultations for a selected group of blind youth during the end-of-year holidays.
