Mineral Resources & Mining Industries Authority

The Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority is one of the five major entities under the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. It was established and organized in accordance with Presidential Decrees No. 452 of 1970, No. 328 of 1984, and No. 45 of 1986, under the original name Egyptian Geological Survey and Mining Authority (EGSMA). EGSMA is one of the oldest geological bodies in the world and was the first to be established in Africa and the Middle East. According to Law No. 87 of 2025, which amended certain provisions of Law No. 198 of 2014 concerning the issuance of the Mineral Resources Law and its accompanying legislation, the name "Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority" has been officially changed to "Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority.
