My Background:
I joined my father's company in 2011 when he asked me for help. And of course I would choose to help, he's my father! But for the next 5 years that I worked there, I only knew what I was doing, i didn't know why I was doing this every day? I couldn't figure out my purpose, or the vision of the company. As a matter of fact, the company simply did not have one. Back then, it was just an ordinary commodity trading company.
What Got Me Excited:
I love to read books. Two books that I read back-to-back, which I highly recommend, ended up changing the destiny of our company:
1. Start With Why - Simon Sinek
2. The Values Factor - Dr. John Dimartini
It was these two books that inspired me to look at my personal value system and go back to define why this company exists. I stemmed the definition from my morals and ethics, in which I live a life that is very spiritual and in line with nature.
What I Didn't Like:
All aspects of my life were in alignment with my core believes of spirituality, health, wellness, nature, compassion, giving and serving - except when I went into our office, I was not in congruencey.
It was at that point that I felt sick to my stomach to face the truths of our company and that each time I looked in our warehouse, all I could see was Garbage. It was mainly full of Foam & Plastic disposable products.
I knew something had to change, and that I had to be part of the solution, rather than being part of the problem.
Always Remain A Student:
I became a student of the Eco-friendly side of our industry. The deeper down the rabbit hole I went, the more fascinated and determined I became , to the point where I knew we have to chart a new path into the world of waste management and create a more sustainable and affordable system where we can create a mindset and behavioral change for others to do the same.
Which is why we're excited every day to share our initiative: #EarthSeva : Founded on the principle of selfless action.
