The Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change in Sub-Saharan Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) has been operational since 2017. The programme realizes activities around the nexus of energy security and climate change across sub-Saharan Africa. Its objective is to improve the political and social frameworks for achieving climate resilient development as well as fostering regional and international cooperation on climate action in the region.
The work of KAS-Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change centers around the following three priorities:
- Awareness raising on the consequences of climate change and the importance of energy security for Africa and Europe.
- Improvement of the political framework for sustainable energy and climate policy as well as improved adaptation and mitigation at local, regional and national level.
- Knowledge development and transfer in the field of energy security promotion and adaptation to climate change.
