About Englekirk Structural Engineering Center, UC San Diego
Reducing the devastating impacts of earthquakes since 2004. By simulating some of the most devastating earthquakes in modern history, research at our world-class, one-of-a-kind facility is dramatically transforming natural disaster mitigation and prevention. With a grant from the NSF, the recently upgraded shake table, LHPOST6, applies realistic earthquake motions with 6 degrees of freedom to test full-scale structural systems, from multi-story buildings to bridge columns, wind turbines and other structures.
