In ECo-LIVE we strive to build capacity, ability, promoting the recognition and support areas where Indigenous/and local communities have traditional governance and conservation systems like Kaya forests of the Mijikenda people of coastal Kenya and some areas within Mangrove forests. These areas are important for biodiversity conservation, ecosystem functions, and maintaining cultural diversity and local livelihoods. Yet they are continuously facing threats (including artisan and large-scale mining) that undermine their functionality and long-standing governance structures.
