About Environmental Selective Extractions
ESE is an entity within the University of Lincoln. Far from being a 20th-century issue, water quality remains a pervasive problem globally. Pollutants from industrial processes and urban waste are worryingly prevalent in our oceans, freshwater and groundwater reserves. Led by Associate Professor Dr Jose Gonzales-Rodriguez, his team have designed a polymer that can be used to extract small quantities of valuable and harmful compounds that are currently sat in our environment. The technology that Jose and the team have developed is a polymer that can extract small and difficult to access compounds. These could be rare and valuable compounds, or harmful pollutants. It is the latter that is the driving force for ESE’s purpose – to create a brighter and cleaner future for our planet.
