ENVOL, short for European NewSpace Vertical Orbital Launcher, is developing an affordable, green, reliable, and agile launch solution for the European NewSpace market. At the heart of ENVOL lies a highly efficient microlauncher that will lift small satellites up to 200 kg into orbit as early as 2024, speeding up the growth of the European NewSpace economy. We are filling a gap in the market created by the NewSpace wave: As new industries and applications are emerging in the space sector and an ever-increasing trend of miniaturization is observable in satellite technology, the market is in need of innovative and reliable smaller launch vehicles that are more flexible and can be launched more frequently. ENVOL’s microlauncher will leverage hybrid rocket propulsion technology matured by Nammo over the last decade. Joining forces with Nammo in the Horizon 2020 consortium are CT Paris, SpaceTec Partners, GTD, ISISpace, Airborne, Evonik, GKN Aerospace, and Andoya Space.
