About EOD Technology Center

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technology Center (EODTECHCEN) is the Department of Defense’s premier agency for the development of EOD Information and Technology. Our mission is to support joint service EOD through the development and dissemination of EOD knowledge, tools and equipment, and provide for their life-cycle support. We do this through internal processes and with the help of our partners. Our workforce is made up of scientist, engineers, and technicians who develop and exploit technology and information, contribute to the technical intelligence process, and provide subject matter expertise to meet the needs of the joint service EOD community, combatant commanders, and our interagency partners. The #EODTECHCEN was officially established in 1953 at Stump Neck Maryland, but the mission can be traced back to the earliest days of WWII when the need for bomb disposal experts was first identified. EODTECHCEN is organized into three divisions and a headquarters section; each division(EOD Information, EOD Systems, Battle Lab) has a unique mission with a focus on supporting the EOD warfighters. In addition to the three technical divisions, the EODTECHCEN houses the International Program Office. The IPO is responsible for executing foreign disclosure when exchanging EOD related information with foreign allies. In addition, IPO is continuously exploring opportunities for future international cooperation. The EODTECHCEN is established as outlined in DODD 5160.62E and contains service detachments from all four services. The EODTECHCEN falls under Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head (NSWC IHD), this relationship gives us unique access to business development opportunities through various mechanisms such as Cooperative Research and Development Agreements, Partnership Intermediary Agreement, Public-Private Partnerships, and the Naval Energetic Systems and Technologies Other Transaction Agreement.
