OUR GOAL: The development of wind turbine blades with longer lifetime, better maintainability and reliability, together with higher sustainability and recyclability. This will be achieved by the use of biobased reparable and recyclable basalt fibre-reinforced vitrimer composites and the integration of advanced recyclable sensors and actuators which will perform structural health monitoring of the blades. The design phases will be supported by advanced multiscale modelling to ensure the highest performance levels and by LCA-based environmental analysis to guarantee the best approach in terms of carbon footprint and sustainability.
