The IMPULSE research team "Impact of new healthcare organizations, public policies and communications on the use of healthcare products" has been based since January 2022 within the U1290 RESHAPE (RESearch on HealthcAre PErformance) public health research unit under the supervision of Inserm and the Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University, and in partnership with the Service des Données de Santé des Hospices Civils de Lyon. Its work aims to study the impact on real-life healthcare product use of three types of action that can influence patient care: treatment decisions/recommendations issued by healthcare authorities or learned societies; communications on healthcare products from authorities, healthcare professionals, manufacturers, or patients relayed by the media; and the introduction of new healthcare organizations. This team is a strategic partner of EPI-PHARE (ANSM), providing health authorities with cross-disciplinary expertise in the epidemiology of healthcare products (drugs, biological products, medical devices, and vaccines reimbursed by the French health insurance system) to study the impact on healthcare product use of various actions, both institutional and non-institutional, whatever the clinical theme, and considering different levels of analysis (patient, healthcare professional and population). Studies are carried out using SNDS data to address priority public health issues identified in agreement with EPI-PHARE.
