Equity Doula Overview

I will be your doula, your guide, as we birth a new world - one that is equitable & full of empathy! I have witnessed the power of storytelling change the hearts and minds of some of the most hardened, set in their ways, people. A personal story can cut through all the noise in a way a report or the news simply can't. Into this work, I bring all the stories I have been honored to hold and make space to welcome yours. MY APPROACH I use an intersectional lens and make sure my solutions are grounded in self-determination and decolonization. As we look at the challenges specific in your organization or community, we will use that intersectional lens and make sure we understand no issue can be solved in a silo. We are multidimensional and our challenges are interdependent and require us to work collaboratively to solve them. MY MISSION Is to help birth a new world full of empathy and equity. It is going to be uncomfortable and messy and that’s ok! We need to learn to sit in discomfort and get through it, not try and bury it or run from it. Discomfort is our warning sign that something is off, not right. Let it become your friend as you strive to improve. We have all we need to fix our problems but this will not happen if we are scared of one another and not able to talk. It's important to make mistakes, that's how we know we're growing. Let me help you on this journey by providing you with the training and tools you’ll need to navigate this new, possibly, uncomfortable space. MY HOPE Is we can get to a place where letting someone know they’re being racist is like telling someone they have lettuce in their teeth. “…hey, oh yeah you, you got a little racism on your cheek there…no, no problem, happy to help. Hope someone would tell me if I was walking around with racism on my face!“. It's structural, not personal! The more conversations we can have about our country, our biases, and how racism shows up in our spaces the more empathy and equity we grow!
