The EUDAIMONIA project is funded by the European Research Council (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/948473) from 2021 to 2026. Its main purpose is to determine whether the EU respects the principle of national administrative autonomy in drafting and interpreting the acquis. It will use a interdisciplinary approach by combining black-letter legal analysis with the Actor-Network-Theory approach of social action. Empirically, the team will investigate the content of EU legislation in 18 areas of EU law and conduct semi-structured interviews with national civil servants in 4 member states (France, Poland, Portugal and Romania). These results will lead to the adoption of a questionnaire sent to all identified stakeholders asking about their perceptions about the potentially intrusive or respectful ways by which the Commission and legislator draft laws. In doing so, EUDAIMONIA investigates and redefines the constitutional and administrative balance between transnational institutions and sovereign states in today's European Union.
