ESA Impacts: Investing in the Evans Scholar network
ESA Impacts is a committed capital structure aka a matchmaker . On one side, we seek alums with business ideas who need support, whether they are early, mid or late career, whether they are early stage, buyout or bridge loan. On the other side, we have alums who want to invest some capital in the network, who believe that the best return is in investing in people who share a common ethos – in successful Alums. This is the core of impact investing.
What is Impact Investing?
According to the World Economic Forum: “Impact investing is an investment approach intentionally seeking to create both financial return and social impact that is actively measured.”
There are four distinct pieces to this puzzle:
- Alums with ideas in need of capital and advice. We are looking for alums who are entrpreneurs, who have a dream or a passion. We would love to help you make that a reality, but we will also tell you if the idea needs work.
- Investment Committee: We have a team of investment professionals from both the private and public market who vet ideas and make investments for a living. They will vet all ideas to see if they are investable or not.
- Advisory Committee: We have another team of professionals who come from every industry and bring all types of fucntional skill sets that can help advise the ideas, whether investable or not, on issues that need to be highlighted or addressed in order to improve the odds of success.
- Committed Angels: finally, we have but are always looking for more committed angel investors, who have the passion to invest in the ideas of fellow alums because the impact it has, but who also expect a financial return on investment. These alums will be notified and introduced to ideas that the investment committee thinks are investable, but will need to do their own due diligence. We provide the source for deal flow, the first stage of filtering, and the advice needed to improve success.
