Essimo is a martial arts brand founded in 2000 in The Netherlands by Patrick van Kalken. After the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, Patrick wanted to make a change and improve the judosuits with his knowledge. At that time, he wasn’t 100% happy with the judo suits, so he started Essimo. Because he was active in the sport itself, he knows exactly what a judoka needs for a good kimono. Nowadays, Patrick is still the CEO of Essimo. He spends a few weeks per year abroad to visit the factories that produce Essimo products. “Only by visiting factories personally, and keep looking for new innovations and developments, we are able to offer first class products” according to Patrick. In 20 years, Essimo has grown to an international brand being sold worldwide. In many countries we have distributors who sell Essimo, and we keep looking for distributors in countries where there is no distributor yet. Essimo is official supplier of the IJF (International Judo Federation) as well as Premium Partner of the EJU (European Judo Union). More and more international judoka are wearing Essimo because of the perfect fit. It positively affects your performance.
