The European Union - Latin America and the Caribbean Foundation (EU-LAC Foundation) was created as a result and initiative of the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government in May 2010 and formally began operating in November 2011. With its headquarters in the city of Hamburg, Germany, the Foundation now consists of 33 members from Latin America and the Caribbean as well as 27 member states from the European Union and the European Union itself. The aim of the Foundation is to transform and adapt the strategic partnership between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean -adopted in 1999 - into a strengthened and visible reality where the respective societies in both these regions can actively participate. ... Creada en Mayo de 2010 por la VI Cumbre de Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno, la Fundación Unión Europea-América Latina y el Caribe (Fundación EU-LAC) inició sus actividades en noviembre de 2011. La sede de la Fundación EU-LAC se encuentra en la ciudad de Hamburgo, Alemania. La Fundación tiene 62 miembros: los 33 miembros de América Latina y el Caribe, los 27 Estados miembros de la Unión Europea, así como las instituciones de la Unión Europea. El objetivo de la Fundación es transformar la asociación estratégica entre la Unión Europea, América Latina y el Caribe, que fue emprendida en 1999, en una realidad vigorizada y visible que cuente con la participación activa de las respectivas sociedades.
