The Sustainable Energy and Development (SEDev) Master’s Program has a rich history of evolution to meet the pressing needs of our times. Since its inception in 1988 as the Appropriate Rural Technology and Extension Skills (ARTES) program, our master’s program has undergone significant transformations to address the evolving global energy landscape. Renamed to Sustainable Energy Systems and Management (SESAM) in 1999, and later evolving into Energy and Environmental Management (EEM) in 2009. our program now stands as SEDev to meet contemporary challenges. The SEDev Master’s Program focuses on tackling climate change and energy poverty through energy transformation. We emphasize universal access to affordable, reliable, and renewable energy systems, particularly in the Global South. Our mission is to foster sustainable social and economic development through comprehensive higher education. The programme is generously supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and is part of the Association of Postgraduate Programmes with Special Relevance to Developing Countries (AGEP).
