A non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and uptake of Sustainable Development principles at local, national, and European level through education and awareness raising activities.
EUPAIDEIA’s mission is to drive social change towards the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through the provision of tools and innovative, transdisciplinary education opportunities to various target groups, in order to equip them with the necessary 21st century skills.
"Paideia" in ancient Greece referred to the concept and practice of the holistic, transversal education that an ideal member of society should have. This individual would be a well-rounded, refined in intellect active citizen, with knowledge and skills that ranged from humanities to scientific disciplines and from arts and culture to conducting a healthy lifestyle.
The timeless notion of “paideia” is more relevant than ever in the 21st century. Complex global challenges such as the climate crisis, socioeconomic fluidity, increasing inequalities and the rapid digital transformation have arisen. Those challenges can only be addressed through a holistic, interdisciplinary educational approach to equip all with the multifaceted set of competences necessary for increasing resilience, inclusion and active participation.
EUPAIDEIA envisions and strives for a world with embedded sustainability principles, elimination of discrimination, increased social inclusion and participation and utmost respect for both human rights and the environment.
