The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) is pleased to announce the creation of a structured organization entitled Euro-ELSO. As an integral part of ELSO, Euro-ELSO will supervise and undertake scientific initiatives and activities meant to promote multidisciplinary ECLS application, investigation, research, education and training in Europe in the field of extracorporeal support for cardiocirculatory or respiratory failure. This group will also strengthen collaborative efforts between European, North American, and worldwide ECLS centers in improving the outcome of these critically ill patients with cardiorespiratory failure in whom extracorporeal techniques are being applied in increasing frequency. The formation of Euro-ELSO is the first of expanding collaborations around the globe to ECLS centers outside North America.
