The aim of ESIS is to develop and extend knowledge in all aspects of Structural Integrity and disseminate that knowledge worldwide with the objective of improving the safety and performance of engineering equipment, individual components, and structures. 21 ESIS Technical Committees (TC) work on different aspects of Structural Integrity matters. Specifically: - To foster research and collaboration regarding the prevention of failure, by fracture or other physical phenomena, of engineering structures, components, systems, and materials. - To encourage interdisciplinary research into the physical behaviour of engineering structures, components, systems, and their associated materials. - To develop and assess new testing methods, numerical methods, and engineering estimation methods for structural integrity assessments. - To improve engineering designs. - To improve manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance procedures. - To disseminate knowledge, by means of scientific publications, technical conferences, seminars, workshops, procedures, and documents, and to refer new knowledge and developments to national and international code-making bodies (CEN and ISO) where relevant. - To educate young engineers and scientists in structural integrity matters. The following prestigious scientific journals published by Elsevier are affiliated with ESIS: - Engineering Failure Analysis - Engineering Fracture Mechanics - International Journal of Fatigue - Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics - Procedia Structural Integrity ESIS is the organizer or supporter of various international conference series: - ECF, European Conference on Fracture - ICSI, International Conference on Structural Integrity - IRAS, International Conference on Risk Analysis and Safety of Complex Structures and Componentes ESIS, at its events, confers various awards.
