About European Values Study
The European Values Study is a large-scale, cross-national, and repetead survey research program on basic human values. It provides insights into the ideas, beliefs, preferences, attitudes, values, and opinions of citizens all over Europe. It is a unique research project on how Europeans think about life, family, work, religion, politics, society, national and European identity, environment. The European Values Study started in 1981. Since then, every nine years, the survey is repeated in a variable number of countries collecting data among representative samples of the national populations of more than 35 countries (47 in wave 4, in 2008). The sixth wave of EVS, that will be surveyed in 2026, is currently under preparation. The EVS is managed by an Executive Committee that is responsible for running the day-to-day business of the EVS project. It is composed as follows: Chair: Ruud Luijkx (NL) Secretary: Vera Lomazzi (IT) Members: Edurne Bartolome Peral (ES), Silvija Migles (HR), Reinhard Pollak (DE), Alice Ramos (PT) Member ex-officio: Markus Quandt (DE, Representative of the Data Archive), Ferruccio Biolcati (IT, Chair of the Scientific Committee). Invited members: Antoanela Petkovska (Chair of the EVS Council), Inge Sieben (co-editor of the European Values Series) The Executive Committee is adviced by the Scientific Committee, consisting of the following people: Chair: Ferruccio Biolcati (IT) Vice-chair: Claudiu Tufis (RO) Members: Beatrice Elena Chromková Manea (CZ), Stefan Dahlberg (SE), Morten Frederiksen (DK), Frédéric Gonthier (FR), Bart Meuleman (BE), Quita Muis (NL), Michael Ochsner (CH), Gergely Rosta (HU), Joanna Konieczna-Sałamatin (PL).
