About Euthyphro Research
Euthyphro Research takes its name from the Socratic dialogue written by Plato in 380 BC, which handles the essence of piety, and moral objectivity. This may appear to be an unusual source of inspiration, when aiming to name a platform for investment analysis, although it is in fact due to Euthyphro's Dilemma, included above, that the name was chosen. We believe that the same logic used by Socrates in order to question moral authority, within the dialogue, can be used by an investor in order to determine the source of a company's market valuation. The dilemma can therefore be re-written in order to question whether a company is popular with investors because of its intrinsic value, or whether it is highly valued purely because of that investor popularity. This concept of popularity can be used interchangeably with the idea of trading at a high valuation, and this is why it is important for an investor to decide which side of the dilemma is most accurate in explaining the valuation of a company. At Euthyphro we aim to find companies whose intrinsic value will lead to future investor popularity, allowing high quality equities to be selected at a relative discount, and returns to be generated from the wider market discovering these companies and valuing them accordingly.
