Everyone is Coachable

I didn’t step into leadership because I felt ready. I stepped in because someone emailed me. It said: “I hear you’re available, there’s a slot in my team. Do you want to join?” I freak out and started replying to say thanks but no thanks… I wasn’t ready!! I was genuinely terrified I’d let people down. Then I deleted the whole thing. And instead typed: “Amazing!! I’d love to, when do you want me?”And then felt like throwing up. That’s how it started. A side step with no training. Just a title, a team, and a silent fear that someone was about to realise I was in over my head. Back then, there was no Google. No LinkedIn. No mentor. Just me, sitting on the floor at 10pm in Borders Books, flipping through pages of books I couldn’t afford to buy, desperately trying to learn how to lead. No one taught me how to coach. No one explained how to have a hard conversation. I’ve now done the slow, honest work to move through that fear to build something real. And now, I help new and overlooked leaders do the same.
