Artificial Intelligence TU/e - WUR - UU - UMC Utrecht

The three universities of Eindhoven, Wageningen and Utrecht have joined forces with the UMC Utrecht in a sustainable and co-operative model for enabling research in the field of AI and advanced data-analysis. With one common goal: driving the development and application of trustworthy AI for the benefit of society. Innovative and new research lines are required to ensure that Dutch academic institutes will continue to provide high-level contributions to the exciting field of AI. Proper embedding in society can only be guaranteed through trustworthy AI, which is built upon a firm ethical and legal foundation. Joining forces and stimulating interdisciplinary collaboration in the alliance will leverage scientific discovery and the application of AI in societal impact domains. The EWUU alliance for AI connects scientists who wish to apply for research grants and promotes acquiring research funding through financial (leveraging) means as well as practical support. Partnership between multiple universities is both desired and necessary in the present academic environment. The EWUU alliance for AI serves as a platform and a facilitator for collaborative grant applications and for identifying complementary knowledge. All four alliance institutes have distinguished expertise. Technical knowledge in a broad range of applications is supplied by the TU/e Eindhoven. Wageningen University guarantees world-class knowledge in ecology, nutrition, agriculture, and many related areas. Utrecht University provides fundamental scientific insights intertwined with a social embedding through legal and ethical perspectives, and the UMC Utrecht is a key partner by supplying medical knowledge and healthcare-related application areas.
