Excesso Filmes

Excesso Filmes is a film & media startup founded in 2019 by Éri Sarmet and Clari Ribeiro. With a 100% trans team, we create fiction, series, and documentaries that explore new languages and expand representation in cinema. Our goal is to transform narratives and open pathways for new forms of production and distribution in the global market. So far, our catalog includes four short films: the experimental Latifúndio (2017); the fiction films A Wild Patience Has Taken Me Here (2021), winner of the Special Jury Award at Sundance 2022, and If I’m Here It Is By Mystery (2024); and the documentary with a sci-fi touch Vollúpya (2024). Together, our films have won over 45 awards and have been screened at more than 200 festivals, including Sundance, Rotterdam, Havana, Edinburgh, Frameline, BFI Flare, Tiradentes, Olhar de Cinema, Mix Brasil, and many others. We are currently in an expansion phase, developing new projects and strategic partnerships to broaden our international presence and test innovative formats for content creation and circulation. In 2025, we participated in the Amplifica Cine acceleration program, strengthening our business model and expanding our network within the film & entertainment sector.
