UELS supports its members from the moment they join our legal community through to graduation and beyond. We strive to provide our members with a wide array of opportunities, including careers and academic skills events, advocacy and mooting competitions, our involvement in intramural sport, and regular socials. Our Pro Bono programme offers a range of legal volunteering opportunities, allowing you to make a positive impact on the community whilst developing your personal and professional skills.
UELS is devoted to three core values of opportunity, interaction, and accessibility. Our events cater to all levels of experience, from our Newcomers’ Moot, to the All Exeter Mock Court Trial. Community is at the heart of UELS; we operate a regular social calendar which appeals to all. Integral to this effort is ensuring that our events are accessible, and that members feel fully supported. We embrace diversity within our community, and have a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. It is our commitment to these three values which allow us to further our members’ personal and professional development.
Through our numerous partnerships with top law firms, chambers, legal businesses and non-legal enterprises alike, we offer a range of exciting networking events, such as our annual Careers and Bar Dinners. In furthering our commitment to interaction, we will be hosting bigger and better versions of our Winter and Spring Balls, which bring our community together to celebrate the end of the academic terms and allow us to celebrate our members’ contributions to the community.
