EXTREMES Project

Since 2000, loss and damage caused by extreme weather and climate events in Serbia have been estimated at over 7 billion euros. Hence, the project EXTREMES aims at a detailed analysis of extreme weather and climate events (heat waves, droughts, heavy rainfall, damage from hail, dense fog, etc.) in the past and their projections for the future. During the project, our team will use modern and innovative methodological approaches and the latest technologies to explain these events, their cause, analyze the current consequences into possible risks in the future. Developing a unique and complete database with information on extreme events in Serbia is the key goal of the project, which will support various sectoral impact studies and risk assessments. This research was supported by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, No. 7389, Project Extreme weather events in Serbia - analysis, modelling and impacts” - EXTREMES Od 2000. godine štete izazvane ekstremnim vremenskim i klimatskim događajima u Srbiji procenjene su na preko 7 milijardi evra. Projekat EXTREMES ima za cilj detaljnu analizu ekstremnih vremenskih i klimatskih događaja (toplotni talasi, suše, obilne padavine, štete od grada, gusta magla, itd.) u prošlosti i njihove projekcije za budućnost. Tokom projekta, naš tim će koristiti savremene i inovativne metodološke pristupe i najnovije tehnologije da objasni ove događaje, njihov uzrok, analizira trenutne posledice i moguće rizike u budućnosti. Razvoj jedinstvene i kompletne baze podataka sa informacijama o ekstremnim događajima u Srbiji je ključni cilj projekta, koji će podržati različite sektorske studije uticaja i procene rizika.
