Die offene Hightechwerkstatt Oberfranken steht unter der Trägerschaft des gemeinnützigen Vereins "FabLab-Bayreuth e. V." Der Verein gründete sich am 2. März 2013 mit dem Ziel, allen Menschen einen offenen Zugang zum technologischen Fortschritt zu ermöglichen.
Es bietet eine Lern-, Erfahrungs,- und Arbeitsumgebung bestehend aus: Raum, Standardmaschinen, Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie – darüber hinaus wird hier Wissen, Kreativität und Soziokultur gebündelt.
