Fabrique is an independent record label that is releasing and licensing electronic, experimental, and indie music since 2002. What began as a playful interaction between electronic music and experimental art projects has developed into a multifaceted, international portfolio of artists, complemented by the music publisher Edition Fabrique and artist management.
Under the direction of the two founders Michael Martinek and Christian Rösner, Fabrique and its artists have produced a diverse artistic output, including numerous international indie airplay hits and successfully licensed music for film and advertising.
Current artists include British avant-garde composer Christopher James Chaplin, award-winning Berlin sound artist and composer Jana Irmert, Drum & Lace, aka Sofia degli Alessandri-Hultquist, an acclaimed Italian artist and composer, electronic music and visual art duo Laikka, multi-instrumentalist Peter Zirbs, art-pop duo DRAMAS, contemporary British-Swiss violinist, singer and composer Violeta Vicci, and many other artists.
Fabrique Records also maintains a fruitful collaboration with Galerie Gugging in Lower Austria, one of the most important international venues for the creation and presentation of genuine, original art with its own visual language (Art Brut). The renowned gallery has always been a meeting place for artists, including David Bowie, who was a guest here several times during his album research. Together, Fabrique and Galerie Gugging have initiated the Special Edition concert series (since 2017) and produced several concept albums closely related to the Gugging art by Joachim Roedelius, Kava and Christopher James Chaplin.
From the beginning, the founders of Fabrique aimed to create an open, artistic, and experimental workshop, and this vision has been fully realized and has become the hallmark of the label.
