Faculty-student engagement is widely acknowledged as a powerful way to improve student well-being, belonging, innovation, retention, and success. Yet it is hard to find a college or university with an institutional-level, integrated strategy to ensure students feel as though they can approach faculty and engage meaningfully with them.
The Faculty Approachability Project provides a toolkit and supports a community of practice to address this gap, also ensuring that such strategies are scalable and sustainable, mindful of the range of student needs, and not reliant on a subset of faculty that are disproportionately from under-represented groups.
