Fay-J Packaging is a small, family owned, independent bag manufacturer where customer service is number one! We make Multi Wall SOM Paper bags and offer BOPP, Woven Poly and Valve/Bulk bags and hand held sewing machine, thread and machine wrap. We also offer in-house design. Fay J Durrant started in the bag business February 1959 after being discharged from the U.S. Navy. He started with a bag company in Houston, TX and ended up in Memphis, TN as a sales man in 1977. Over the years Fay J realized there was a niche market for someone to focus on the small bag user; 2,000 to 20,000 bag customer as opposed to the 80,000 bag or truckload customer. He began locating and acquiring old used bag making equipment throughout the industry, storing this equipment in a warehouse in Memphis, TX. In 1982 he started Fay J Packaging, went broke in 1985, started back up in 1986 then moved plant and the family to Texarkana TX in July 1989 with the assistance of Swede Lee and the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, guarantying a loan of $150,000 to bring 18 jobs to Texarkana. The plant now employees 36 trained bag makers. He refers to this adventure as being a peanut vendor in a huge circus. but the peanuts have been very nutritious. Some of the markets served are Livestock Feed, Seed, Fertilizer, Dog Food, Charcoal, Flock and Chemical bags. Success has been achieved through the help and support of Fay J's family, a loyal workforce, faithful suppliers, Fay j's dreams, vision, perseverance, grit and wit. He sold the business to his family in mid 2013 expecting them to keep providing the best customer service and bags. Fay J now sees the same opportunity in the Wine World as he saw in paper bags. He is now offering custom, personalized labels for wine customers buying one case at a time for any gifting occasion from his Summerhill Winery right here in Texarkana U.S.A. He feels this is just another niche type market waiting to be served.
