FireSense - Multimodal AI Research for Fire Prevention and Detection

FireSense is a multidisciplinary research group based at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek (FERIT), focused on advancing fire prevention and detection through cutting-edge machine learning, computer vision, and AI-enhanced sensor technologies. Our scientific mission is to develop multimodal systems that integrate data from thermal, gas, optical, and environmental sensors with real-time computer vision and deep learning algorithms to accurately detect, predict, and respond to fire hazards in diverse environments. We work at the intersection of AI, robotics, IoT, and environmental monitoring to build intelligent, autonomous systems for early fire warning, risk assessment, and situational awareness—empowering smarter cities, safer infrastructure, and more resilient ecosystems.
