Fernwasser Elbaue-Ostharz

Fernwasserversorgung Elbaue-Ostharz GmbH is one of the largest German water suppliers. As a preliminary supplier, the company supplies municipal utilities, special-purpose associations, companies and municipalities in Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia with drinking water. In a region of around 9,000 square kilometres, around 2.5 million people receive Fernwasser water every day. Every year the company provides more than 80 million cubic metres of drinking water from the surface water of the Rappbode dam system in the Harz Mountains, the bank filtrate water of the Elbe and the groundwater of the Dübener and Dahlener Heide. In the waterworks Wienrode (near Blankenburg in the Harz Mountains), Torgau-Ost and Mockritz in the Elbaue, up to 340,000 cubic metres of drinking water can be treated per day, which is distributed through our more than 800 kilometres long pipeline network in Central Germany. Over 220 employees at six company locations ensure a safe water supply.
