The aim of the project is to develop and apply a roadmap for the development and use of autonomous systems for ferries in the German-Dutch Wadden Sea. The project will analyse and test perspectives and concrete requirements for the use of (partially) autonomous navigation systems for ferries on both sides of the border. The expected result of Ferry Go! is a system for autonomous ferries in the Wadden Sea enabling the simulation of a largely unmanned ship operation with human interaction only in case of an emergency.
The project realisation includes the following topics: navigation, technology and systems, ship design, human factor, rules and regulations.
