The goals of the DGF in the fields of fat science and technology include:
- to create a stimulating community where experts from research, technology and business have the opportunity to communicate their ideas and to learn from each other
- to promote scientific and application-oriented research and to support research centers where appropriate
- to encourage further training
- to disseminate information from the field of fat science and to inform the general public on issues relating to lipid science and technology
- to check existing standards and to develop new standard methods
- to acknowledge excellent research results and award outstanding scientists.
In the pursuit of these goals, the DGF promotes wide-ranging interdisciplinary cooperation among those involved in the scientific, medical, technological, agricultural and ecological research of fats and oils, fatty products and related products, surfactants and raw materials.
