FH Europe Foundation is an umbrella organisation of international patient organisations, actively working together to secure early identification and diagnosis of Familial Hyperlipidaemias, including heterozygous and homozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia (HeFH and HoFH), elevated Lipoprotein (a) (Lp(a)) and Familial Chylomicronaemia Syndrome (FCS), to prevent early cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (HeFH) is an inherited condition that leads to levels of cholesterol that are higher than that of the general population, sometimes double or even three or four times.
FH affects around 1 in 300 people – but the prevalence may vary across Europe. HeFH is a genetic condition caused by a ‘spelling mistake’ in our DNA – the genetic material with all the instructions needed to ‘build’ humans.
