Furniture Industry Knowledge Standard

The Furniture Industry Knowledge Standard is a ground‐braking new training programme developed by an industry veteran in conjunction with industry companies, to save time, reduce turnover costs and share valuable knowledge. It was developed in response to fast company growth, ever‐decreasing margins and companies’ need for overhead reduction, which are being addressed by employment of fresh graduates. It was also born in reaction to a complete lack of available training which would cover the broad range of aspects employees have to learn, from admin and sales support, through project coordinators to sales and account managers. Its primary aim is to vastly cut down the time it takes a new employee to become competent in their role by covering all base aspects they would be expected to learn in the first 6‐12 months from joining the industry. Delivery of the course is done in an innovative way – via online video – that allows a person to learn their way, at their own pace, with the added ability to revise the video content and ask the tutor questions along the way. The certificate obtained after passing the quizzes and final verbal test with the author of the course will continue to be recognised into the future, eventually standardising the knowledge across our industry, improving its overall base knowledge level and retention.
