Filafriques

Filafriques is a black woman own gallery, run by Carine Biley, committed to promote contemporary African art. Faced with the complex cultural identity construction subject in an increasingly cosmopolitan world, the gallery creation has been an emergency. Filafriques' mission is to connect people to contemporary Africa through very unique, surprising artistic narratives. Since covid years, Filafriques has been acting by curating non-traditional art venues (airport first class lounge,luxury hotels, international organisations head quarters etc) bringing art to the public in everyday life. In 2024, Filafriques finally opened its own base in Geneva.The artist roster is made with natives from different African countries, who have reappropriated cultural key elements to define their singular narratives such as Obou Gbais with the mask, Joseph Eze with thread hair or Reggie Khumalo with fabric. New residency/gallery projects are processing in the vibrant Ivorian capital, rooting the gallery in Africa will be unveiled soon.
