At Filmbook, we create and publish learning apps for performance-based skills. And we believe that our learning apps should integrate three essentials that every skilled teacher uses: Demonstrate. A great teacher asks relevant, incisive questions at just the right time. Great learning apps, like great teachers, must demonstrate, explain, and question—simultaneously. Great learning apps seamlessly weave the right amount of explanation into their demonstrations and ask the right questions at the right time to increase the probability that what’s being seen and heard is being understood. That’s the art and the science of great teaching. And that’s the philosophy that undergirds the structure of both Filmbook learning apps. TWO FILMBOOK APPS Our first product was released in the U.S. on the App Store in November 2018: The Filmbook® State Board App. With an impressive star rating and a subscriber retention rate consistently over 75 percent, this app is designed to help U.S. cosmetology students pass their state board licensing exam. Our second product was released in the U.S., Canada, and select English-speaking countries worldwide in May 2020: The Filmbook® Cosmetology App. A full cosmetology curriculum for the classroom or for distance learning initiatives, this app offers a structured, step-by-step cosmetology curriculum with 37 classes and over 50 short how-to films. The curriculum inside the Filmbook Cosmetology app was originally created for and tested by one of the largest cosmetology schools in the United States.
